Welcome Videos

Start by picking a Welcome Video from Miss Karla for Grades 1-4
or Miss Renee for littles-Kindergartners or watch both!

Worship Together

Share in some faith practices of worship together!

Shine a Light: Light a candle or find a flashlight. Take turns saying, “Jesus shows the way.”

Sing Together:

Littles – “J-E-S-U-S” (to the tune of Bingo) I have a friend who loves me so and Jesus is His name oh, J-E-S-U-S, J-E-S-U-S, J-E-S-U-S, and Jesus is His name oh!

Grades 1-4 – (Learn this song on Karla’s video.) I am the light of the world, I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me– will never walk in the dark, will never walk in the dark but have the light of life.

Make an Offering: How will you make an offering today?

Read the Bible Together

Read this week’s God’s Great Story in the children’s Bible for you child’s age.

Spark Story Bible – Jesus Goes to Nazareth pg 228
Bible – Luke 4:14-21

Talk About It!

Have fun asking question for all your family members!

Littles: What kinds of things grow? Do you grow? What are some sign you’re growing up? Did you know Jesus grew up too? At Christmas we see Jesus as a baby and then it’s almost like poof he’s a grown up in the way we tell His story. But he had to learn to walk, have a first day of school and go through teenage years just like we all do. Have some fun imagining what it was like for Jesus to grow up. Flip through the Spark Story Bible from pg 202 where we see Him in the manger to 228 where we see as a grown up and see part of His growing up story.

Grades 1-4: Here we are in the season of Epiphany! We spent the four weeks of Advent preparing for Christmas. After Advent, there were twelve days of Christmas, and then Epiphany always starts on January 6th. Epiphany means to reveal, or show. Have you ever used a flashlight in your yard or a campground to show you where it was safe to walk? The Bethlehem star showed the Magi where to find Jesus, and Jesus came to earth to show us how to be closer to God and follow His plans. Where can we learn about God and His plans? (Yes! The Bible.) Look up Luke 4:14-21 for today’s story. Jesus was reading bible words from the prophet Isaiah to people in his hometown. Only, the bible wasn’t a book then, the words were written on scrolls.

Dig Deeper:In this week’s story, Jesus went to the town where he grew up, Nazareth. He went into the synagogue, (like a church), and He was given a scroll to read the words from the Old Testament prophet, Isaiah. At first the people praised Jesus, but then he said something that they didn’t like and they got angry, (Luke 4:22-30). Have you ever felt rejected or left out? What do you do when people close to you are upset?

Family Activity Choices

Pick activities to do together! Supplies are provided in our Monthly At-Home Kits you picked up at our drive thru events or ask to have delivered to your home.

Activity 1: Making scrolls: Your January kit included a “Fruit by the Foot” and some pretzel sticks to make a scroll! Unroll the fruit strip, put a pretzel stick at each end, then roll both ends up until they meet in the middle. You can also use the paper that you peel off the fruit strip, (or any paper) to make another scroll. If you or an adult can write pretty small, you can copy the included bible verse onto your scroll paper, (1 Peter 5:7).

Activity 2: Your hometown: Jesus went to his hometown of Nazareth. What is your hometown? Is it the same as your parent’s hometown? How about your grandparents? Talk with your family about what you like best about your hometown.

Pray Together

“God of light, thank you for sending Jesus to show us the way. Help us look for the light of your love in others and share our light too! We love you, God. Amen”

Bless Each Other

At the end of your time, give each other a special blessing to remember one of God’s promises.

Squat down and stretch up and say “Grow in God’s love!”
