We’re grateful for another round of successful service and learning trips this summer—the first with our middle schoolers (25 students and 5 adults), who traveled to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and the second with our high schoolers (19 students, plus 5 adults), who left a week later for Nashville, Tennessee. Both groups had an amazing experience serving at multiple sites, worshipping and praying together, and exploring the two cities.
From Pastor Ben Shori, who accompanied the Middle School Service & Learning Trip:
“We were given amazing opportunities to serve in Milwaukee, and our group of youth worked hard and grew as followers of Jesus and as a church community. We worked with many awesome organizations, especially focused on hunger and food security.
Feeding America Wisconsin provides quality food to those in need, works to solve root causes of hunger, and advocates on behalf of those they serve. Our youth spent time sorting and preparing food in their Milwaukee warehouse to be sent to individuals and families in need.
Victory Gardens builds communities that grow their own food, creating a socially just, environmentally sustainable, nutritious food system for all. Our youth did A LOT of weeding in the gardens, helping to clear space for more nutritious produce to be grown.
Of course, these are only two examples of organizations we worked with. There are also the friendships made/strengthened, the powerful experiences had, and the memories made on this trip. Thank you so much, Nativity, for supporting our youth!”
