This month is travel season for Nativity’s youth! On July 7, the middle schoolers and chaperones left for their Service & Learning Trip in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The youth have been working hard serving at various sites across the city, including Alice’s Community Garden, the Feeding America food warehouse for regional food shelves, as well as Hope Ministries and The Gathering to prepare food and supplies for area families in need.
On July 15, our high schoolers and their chaperones will head to the ELCA Lutheran Youth Gathering in New Orleans, Louisiana. The theme for this year’s Gathering is “Created to Be,” based on Psalm 139:14. Nativity’s youth will have opportunities for learning, worship, and fellowship throughout the week, including conversations around justice, mental health, and anti-racism at Gathering events.
These experiences are possible because of Nativity members’ generosity. Thank you, Nativity, for your support of our young people! Giving through VanFan, the Palm Sunday Pancake Breakfast, the Mardi Gras Dinner, Youth Plant Sale and individual donations brought in nearly $16,000 this year and offers our youth life-changing opportunities for service, learning, and faith formation!
