Talk About It!
Our book club book today is “Little Blue Truck”. It’s a story about helping and friendship. The little blue truck made friends with all the animals he met along the road, but the large dump truck thought it was too big and strong and important to stop for others. When the dump truck got stuck in the mud, none of the animals wanted to help. Who did help the dump truck? Yes! The little blue truck. And that kindness encouraged the animals to help as well. Was Jesus a special, powerful person? Yes! Did Jesus act big and important like the dump truck? No, Jesus was friendly and helpful and encouraging. Jesus was a servant leader. He asked his friends to tell others about God’s love and to be helpers and healers. That is our job too! Hebrews 10:24 says, “We should keep on encouraging each other to be thoughtful and to do helpful things.”
Family Activity Choices
Pick activities to do together! Supplies are provided in our Monthly At-Home Kits you picked up at our drive thru events or ask to have delivered to your home.
Mirror, Mirror: Stand facing a friend or family member. One of you will be a person looking in the mirror. The other person will be the mirror and will copy all of your movements! After you have some silly fun, remember that we can reflect and mirror God’s love by treating others with love and kindness.
Bulletin board: Create a bulletin board (or other special place) with photos that remind you of friendship and helping. Click HERE to add the Hebrews 10:24 verse graphic if you wish.
Pray Together
“Dear God, thank you for stories that help us remember to be good, kind friends. We’re thankful for all the people in our lives that encourage us, help us, and spend time with us. Amen.”
Bless Each Other
At the end of your time, give each other a special blessing to remember one of God’s promises.
Say to each other “Merry Christmas in July!”
