Share in some faith practices of worship together!
Shine a Light: Light a candle or find a flashlight. Take turns saying, “Jesus’ light shines in me.”
Sing Together: Sing or say: Love, Joy, Peace and Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, too. Gentleness and Self-Control, these are gifts God offers to you!
Make an Offering: How can you give an offering today? It could be time, talent, or treasure!
Read the Bible Together
Read this week’s God’s Great Story in the children’s Bible for you child’s age.
Spark Story Bible Fruit of the Spirit or
2 Kings 22:1-2
Story: Josiah was a little boy; he was only eight
When he became Judah’s king, but God made him great!
King Josiah had God’s law read to everyone.
They all pledged to obey it, but the king had just begun!
Josiah tore down idols and shrines and sacred stones.
He wanted everyone to worship God and God alone!
They celebrated Passover, forgotten for so long,
Josiah did all he could to right the country’s wrongs.
The bible says Josiah was like no other king.
He turned to the Lord and followed Him in everything!

Talk About It!
Have fun asking question for all your family members!
Today’s fruit of the spirit is goodness. Maybe you’ve had a camp experience where the leader calls out: “God is good!” and everyone responds, “All the time!” Then the leader says, “All the time…” and everyone yells, “God is good!” We all have choices to make every day. If you are wondering what the good choices are, just take a moment and think about what God would want you to do. God is love and all who live in love, live in God. -1 John 4:16
Digging Deeper (great topics for Upper Elementary): Can you imagine being a king and being in charge of a country when you are just a kid, like Josiah? What would be the fun parts? What would be the hard parts? Who would you ask to help you figure out the right decisions for everyone in your kingdom? Who did Josiah ask?
Family Activity Choices
Pick activities to do together with supplies you have around your house!
Being a Good King: Draw and cut out a crown. Then cut the whole crown into puzzle pieces. (Keep the pieces big enough to write some words on each piece.) Every time you make a good choice, write it down on a piece and start putting the crown back together. Keep doing good things until your crown has all of the pieces back in place. Look how many actions you have to be proud of!
Pray Together
“Dear God, thank you for Josiah’s story. Help us remember that kids can be good leaders, as well as adults. Thank you for sending the Holy Spirit helper to remind us of goodness. Amen.”
Bless Each Other
At the end of your time, give each other a special blessing to remember one of God’s promises.
Give each other a gentle pinch and says, “You’re super fruity!”
