Spring Family Faith Formation – July 2024
Join us this for a summer of “Wonders & Miracles,” exploring 10 miracles of the Bible!
Pick from watching our Welcome Videos, Worship Together, Reading the Bible, Talk About It, Family Activities, Pray Together and Bless Each Other – or do them all!
Worship Together
Share in some faith practices of worship together!
Shine a Light: Light a candle and say, “Jesus is the light of the world. His light shines in me, and it shines in you.”
Sing Together: Here’s a fun version of Trust in the Lord with All Your Heart. I love this version because the key verse Proverbs 3:5-6 is repeated a lot. Trust In The Lord With All Your Heart : Brentwood Kids
Pray: Say the Lord’s Prayer together.
Make an Offering: How can you make an offering today?
Read the Bible Together
Daniel 3:13-28 or The Fiery Furnace in the Spark Bible.
In class, we will read from the “grown-up Bible,” and every time the musical instruments are mentioned, children will play loudly on various instruments.
Talk About It!
Talk about it: What are some rules you have to follow at home, at school, and in our communities? God has some rules to help us live together in harmony. Do you know what the rules are called? The 10 Commandments. How many of the 10 Commandments do you remember? What’s the one about false gods? In our story today, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego chose to follow God, and trust God to protect them rather than bow down to a false God in the form of a giant golden statue.
Family Activity Choices
Pick activities to do together!
Activity: Watch the classic VeggieTales movie Rack, Shack, and Benny. In this version of the Fiery Furnace story, chocolate company president Nebby K. Nezzer wants his employees to eat as many chocolate bunnies as they like. Then he wants them to bow down and sing “The Bunny Song” in front of a 90 ft chocolate bunny. Rack, Shack, and Benny resist the peer pressure and the demands of Mr. Nezzer to stand up for what is right. VeggieTales | So Many Chocolate Bunnies! 🍫🐰 | Standing Up To Peer Pressure
Pray Together
“Dear God, I put my trust in you. Help me do what is right, and stand up for what is right, even when it is hard. Amen.”
Bless Each Other
At the end of your time, give each other a special blessing to remember one of God’s promises.
We are in the “Ordinary Time” season of the church. Make jazz hands and say “find the miraculous in the ordinary!”
