“Meet Martin Luther” Weekend – the 500th Birthday of the Lutheran Church!
Martin Luther, 1483-1546, was a German professor of theology, composer, priest, monk and a reformer. He
was a man who discovered God’s amazing grace – and as a result he changed the world. He was so energized by discovering that he did not need to earn God’s favor that he wanted to tell the world. He began by posting 95 Thesis (or concerns) on the door of the Wittenberg Castle Church. (Posting on the door was the social media of his day.) With the use of a “Reformation Stick with Me” storybook, we will get to know Dr. Martin Luther!
Affirmation of Baptism (Confirmation)
At Nativity, the Confirmation process begins in the 7th grade and reaches a milestone in the fall of the 10th grade year. Small groups of 7th, 8th & 9th graders experience God’s love in community learning more about the Bible and what we believe, while wrestling with questions about life. In fall of 10th grade, students learn about their unique God-given talents, spiritual gifts, personality and their passions and values. They then “put it all together” and write a “faith statement” (what I believe at this time in my life) and a “mission statement” (how I might use my uniqueness in serving God and others). During worship October 29th at noon, twenty-four tenth graders will publicly declare their faith and mission intentions.
