Nativity will hold an in-person letter writing event the weekend of Oct. 19-20, in observance of World Food Day on Oct. 16. Bread for the World’s 2024 Offering of Letters will address the Farm Bill, which protects the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) along with the Food for Peace global aid program.

The Farm Bill is our country’s key anti-hunger legislation. SNAP is our nation’s crucial safety net, helping more than 40 million Americans put food on the table every year. Food for Peace offers emergency humanitarian food assistance to tens of millions of people across the globe.

Unfortunately, farm bill proposals have been introduced that would cut $30 billion from SNAP over the next decade and reduce the amount of funding available for humanitarian aid in Food for Peace.

Writing a letter will help secure nutrition programs that offer a hand up to families and a brighter future for children. For more information, please contact Deacon Kyle (Kyle@NativityChurch.org) or Sue Sorenson (suesorenson@yahoo.com).

Watch Representative Jahana Hayes of Connecticut’s 5th District share her journey from collecting letters for Bread for the World to receiving them as a member of Congress HERE.

If you can’t join us this weekend, write to your member of Congress today through Bread for the World HERE.
