Spring Family Faith Formation – July 2024
Join us this for a summer of “Wonders & Miracles,” exploring 10 miracles of the Bible!
Pick from watching our Welcome Videos, Worship Together, Reading the Bible, Talk About It, Family Activities, Pray Together and Bless Each Other – or do them all!
Worship Together
Share in some faith practices of worship together!
Shine a Light: Light a candle and say, “Jesus is the light of the world. His light shines in me, and it shines in you.”
Sing Together: Here’s a fun version of Trust in the Lord with All Your Heart. I love this version because the key verse Proverbs 3:5-6 is repeated a lot. Trust In The Lord With All Your Heart : Brentwood Kids
Pray: Say the Lord’s Prayer together.
Make an Offering: How can you make an offering today?
Welcome Video
Read the Bible Together
John 2:1-12 or Wedding at Cana in your Spark Bible
Talk About It!
Talk about it: Turning water into wine was Jesus’ first miracle. He did this at a wedding celebration. Have you ever been to a wedding? What was it like? Wine can be part of a wedding celebration, but so can food, music, and dancing. Can you imagine a celebration without these things?
Dig Deeper: Jesus’ mom believed that he could perform a miracle. How did she know this? Jesus’ mom encouraged him. Who encourages you? How do they encourage you? Who do you encourage? Jesus’ first miracle was cool, but he performed many more. Can you think of any other miracles Jesus performed?
Family Activity Choices
Pick activities to do together!
Activity 1: Turning Water into Wine You will need: 6 glasses, a pitcher of clear water and some red food coloring. Put 1-2 drops of red food coloring into the bottom of each glass. Then pour water into each of the 6 glasses and see how the clear water miraculously turns red!
Activity 2: Wedding Reception Crank up the volume and do some silly dances that are popular at wedding receptions. Some ideas: Hokey Pokey, YMCA, Macarena, Electric Slide, or even Chicken Dance (hey, I am from Wisconsin). A dance party always improves my mood even when I don’t feel like it at first!
Pray Together
“Dear God, help me to be like Mary and teach others about Jesus. Help me to be like Jesus and show love and care for others. Amen.”
Bless Each Other
At the end of your time, give each other a special blessing to remember one of God’s promises.
We are in the “Ordinary Time” season of the church. Make jazz hands and say “find the miraculous in the ordinary!”
