Summer Family Faith Formation – June 2024

Job 9:10 “God does wonderful things that can’t be understood. He does miracles that can’t even be counted.”

Talk about it: This summer we are talking about wonders and miracles! We will learn five from the Old Testament and five from the New Testament. Today’s story is Moses and the Red Sea.  God chose Moses to lead all the Israelites out of slavery. Even though Moses had seen God do miracles, he was still afraid. He trusted God anyway.  The Red Sea parted and      the Israelites walked across dry land to safety!

Digging Deeper (great topics for Upper Elementary): It was hard for Moses to do what God asked. He had to face someone who was mad at him, Pharoah. And Pharoah had great power. Moses had to trust that God’s power was even stronger than a King with a whole army! What’s the hardest thing you ever had to do?

Activity 1: Follow the Savior – Trace your foot (or both feet) on a piece of paper. Write, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart.” -Proverbs 3:5 on the foot shape. 

Activity 2: Crossing the Sea – Have your family line up on one side of the room with the goal of getting everyone safely to the other side. The trick is, people can only step on a piece of paper as it’s laid down in front of them. The first person will lay down a page and step on it, then will reach behind them as the next person hands them another sheet. The first person will lay it down, step on it, and the second person will step on the first sheet. Have the group continue in this way, laying down new sheets and traveling one person at a time till everyone is across. (Source: ministry-to-children.com)
