Worship Together
Share in some faith practices of worship together!
Shine a Light: Light a candle or find a flashlight. Take turns saying, “Jesus shows the way.”
Sing Together:
(Tune: Go Tell It On the Mountain) Go, hear it on the mountain! Climb up with Peter, James and John. Go, hear it on the mountain, that Jesus is God’s Son!
(verse 2) Go, hear it on the mountain! Listen now, what do you hear? Go, hear it on the mountain, God’s voice is loud and clear.
Make an Offering: How will you make an offering today?
Read the Bible Together
Read this week’s God’s Great Story in the children’s Bible for you child’s age.

Talk About It!
Have fun asking question for all your family members!
We are still in the season of Epiphany! Epiphany means to reveal, or show. In today’s reading Jesus goes up the mountain and actually start to glow!! Talk about being the light of the world”! After you read the bible story, talk about these questions… Which three friends went up the mountain with Jesus? What did they hear God say? What would you say if you saw Jesus become as bright as lightning?
Dig Deeper: This story is called the Transfiguration. That means “a very big change in the way someone or something looks.” I think God made Jesus glow to remind the disciples that Jesus really was special and different. It got their attention in a very dramatic way, so that when God spoke they would be VERY good listeners. What do you think? What grabs your attention? When are you a very good listener?
Family Activity Choices
Pick activities to do together! Supplies are provided in our Monthly At-Home Kits you picked up at our drive thru events or ask to have delivered to your home.
Activity 1: Light-up Jesus: Find the picture of Jesus with the wax paper insert in your February Faith Formation bag. Color as much of the paper as you like – his sleeves, beard, sandals, the sky, etc. Then tape the paper around the battery operated candle in your kit, turn it on and make Jesus glow!
Activity 2: Sound effects: Add some sound effects as you retell the story. (1.) Feet tromping up the mountain. (2.) A gasp of surprise when Jesus lights up. (3.) Excited voices of the disciples when they see the miracle. (4.) The voice of God speaking. (5.) The hush of silence when they come down and don’t tell anyone what they saw.

Pray Together
“God of all, thank you for giving us two ears to listen. Thank you for giving us one mouth to speak. Help us use our ears to hear you and our mouths to tell people about you. We love you, God! Amen”
Bless Each Other
At the end of your time, give each other a special blessing to remember one of God’s promises.
Cup your ear and say “I hear God’s love in you!”
